In summer, the city of Poprad offers a varied cultural program, regular events and festivals of international importance, shopping opportunities as well as attractive points of interest such as Spišská Sobota Square, gallery, museum and so on. Poprad is a tourist center mainly due to the surrounding natural resources in 4 national parks, thanks to a large thermal water park operated all year round as well as due to the rich history of the Spiš region and many monuments. For tourists, it is a great starting point, especially for good transport links to the surrounding area.

WEST – LIPTOVSKY MIKULAS

Transfer to the historical region of Liptov, which offers opportunities for summer and winter recreation, especially in the Western and Low Tatras, summer recreation at the Liptovská Mara reservoir, visits to cultural and historical monuments or traditional events.

NORTHWEST – HIGH TATRAS

The High Tatras offer a wide range of leisure activities – hiking, climbing, adrenaline attractions, attractions for children and visits to museums or galleries. Many alpine routes to lakes, mountain huts, valleys or peaks are attractive. The starting points for tourism are the Tatra settlements and villages mentioned bellow. You can easily get to the Tatras from Poprad, for example, by Tatra trams or bus connections.

Starý Smokovec (13 km): Funicular, educational paths, calvary, Hrebienok – Studenovodské waterfalls, Gallery Tatry vnútri, Tricklandia, Museum of Tatra cinematography and photography, Gallery Vila Flóra.

Tatranská Lomnica (19 km): Museum of TANAP, Ski museum The first ski museum, Exposition Tatra nature – Botanical garden, Tatrabob and other attractions, cableway to Skalnaté pleso and Lomnický štít, chair lift to Lomnické sedlo, educational path, Gallery Dobrá hračka- children playground.

Tatranská kotlina (24 km): Belianska cave, rope park.

Štrbské Pleso (30 km): Mountain water area, rowing, ponds of love, sports compound with attractions, waterfalls Skok, Solisko – cable chairlift, Popradské pleso.

Ždiar (32 km): Museum Ždiar house, Bachleda valley with summer and winter attractions, Walkway through the treetops, Light dome.

Tatranská Javorina (45 km): Castle of Prince Hohenlohe (today under control of President’s Office), St. Anna Church, hiking trails.

NORTH – CERVENY KLASTOR – PIENINY

North of Poprad is another national park – Pieniny. In the beautiful nature, the visitor can experience extraordinary adventures on the river Dunajec, see the sights Červený Kláštor, enjoy sports and tourism, or even cross the border and visit the Polish border town. On the way to Červený Kláštor you can also stop at other interesting places: Kežmarok, Strážky, Spišská Belá and Podolínec (- description is given in the Northeast direction).

NORTHEAST – KEZMAROK, STARA LUBOVNA

Northeast of Poprad, the visitor has an opportunity to meet the history at almost every step. The area offers urban historical areas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, museums, swimming opportunities, but also a visit to the distillery with a tasting of the only Slovak whiskey.

Kežmarok (15 km): Slovak royal charter town, Wooden Protestant Church constructed under restrictive articles (UNESCO), Kežmarok Castle, Museum of living culture in Spiš region, Lyceum, Basilica of Saint Cross with Rennaisance Belfry, New Evangelical Church, Paulínsky church, Historical Cemetery.

Spišská Belá – Strážky (20 km): Chateau Strážky with English park (Slovak national gallery).

Spišská Belá (22 km): Slovak technical museum, Museum of J. M. Petzval, Museum of Michal Greisiger.

Podolínec (32 km): Church of Assumption of Virgin Mary with Belfry, Church and Monastery of piarists, Podolínsky castel, city walls, town houses.

Vyšné Ružbachy (40 km): Spa Vyšné Ružbachy, Ski park Vyšné Ružbachy, travertine crater, natural symposium of sculpture.

Hniezdne (44 km): Nestville park – distillery with exhibitions and a visitors‘ tour.

Stará Ľubovňa (49 km): Slovak royal charter town, Ľubovňa castle, Ľubovňa natural museum – Museum of Zamagurie region village, Church of St. Nicholas, The House of Ľubovňa burghers.

EAST – LEVOCA, SPISSKE PODHRADIE

This direction will move you to the historical region of Spiš, which offers many monuments written in the UNESCO World Heritage List, sacral monuments, museums and castle.

Levočská dolina (35 km): organic swimming pool, adventure fishing, hiking and biking trails, wellness hotel

Spišské podhradie (43 km): Spiš castle (UNESCO), Spišská Kapitula: St. Martin’s Cathedral, Bishop´s Palace, seminary, canonists‘campus.

SOUTHEAST – SPISSKA NOVA VES

Southeast of Poprad you can get directly to paradise, in our case to the Slovak Paradise National Park, visit the town of Spišská Nová Ves with its museums or go up 154 ​​steps to the highest church tower in Slovakia, from where you will have a beautiful view of the town and its surroundings.

Gánovce (5 km): The area where a Neanderthal skull was found, Aqua Spa Ganovce (Ganovce is located off the highway).

Smižany (24 km): Ethnographic Museum, Birthplace of Ján Nálepka.

Spišská Nová Ves (28 km): Museum of the Spiš region, Slovak technical museum, Artist´s Gallery, ZOO, Rope park Monkeyland, Educational mining path Novoveská Huta.

Markušovce (35 km): Dardanelles mansion and summer house.

Národný park Slovenský raj Podlesok, Hrabušice (16 km) -summer and winter tourism, summer recreation on the waterfront (Palcmanská Maša).

SOUTH – ROZNAVA

South of Poprad is the Slovak Paradise National Park designed primarily for summer hiking in the mountains and by the water. In addition, there are several caves, some of which are inscribed on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List, a manor house with an extensive park or the town of Rožňava with its monuments. In the immediate vicinity of the city there is also a recreational part Kvetnica, suitable for both hiking and biking.

SOUTHWEST – LIPTOVSKA TEPLICKA

The village Liptovská Teplička has become the Slovak village of the year several times in a row. It is interesting mainly by maintaining folklore and craft traditions, but also by unique cellars and well-preserved barns. The village is surrounded by beautiful nature on the edge of the Low Tatras and is a suitable location for cycling trips.
